Rumble Young Man Rumble Associate

William Westerfield “Wes” Tolbert joined the Campaign for Black Male Achievement as Rumble Young Man Rumble Associate in December 2017. In this new role, he works with the Director of RYMR to further the growth of the initiative. In Louisville, Wes will be responsible for coordinating Kenan Charitable Trust's partnership with Metro United Way, the University of Louisville and CBMA. Additional responsibilities include supporting Promise of Place activities, facilitating field-building, and organizational-development enterprises designed to improve place-based life outcomes for Black men and boys in the region and beyond.

Before joining CBMA, Wes was a Project Management Fellow on the Bloomberg-funded Innovation Delivery Team at Louisville Metro Government, as well as the Project Assistant to West Louisville Connectors Project at Leadership Louisville Center.

Raised in Westchester County, NY, Wes attended Jefferson Community and Technical College where he received his Associates in Political Science before continuing to the University of Louisville to obtain his Bachelors in Political Science with studies concentrated in Law and Public Policy. While Attending the University, he debated four years for the Malcolm X Debate team promoting a long tradition of social justice and intersectional thinking as a prerequisite for sustainable institutional change. Wes' guiding principles are based on VALOR, which stands for Vision, Ambition, Leadership, Organization, and Resolve. He currently resides with his family in Louisville, KY.
